Villains Anonymous – Session #100: “The Endgame of Accidental Goodness”
The secret lair had changed.
No longer a dimly lit basement, it was now a sprawling skyscraper, the headquarters of The Benevolent Conglomerate™, a shadowy megacorporation that controlled everything… for the greater good.
The villains sat around an opulent mahogany table, overlooking the skyline of their accidental utopia.
Dr. Malevolence (adjusting his designer lab coat): "Alright, people. We need to address the crisis at hand. Our sinister operations have reached dangerous levels of… efficiency."
Baron Doomclank (polishing his mechanical hand): "It’s true. Our plan to monopolise global trade? Ended world hunger instead."
Count Malice (sipping an ethically sourced blood smoothie): "Our propaganda machine designed to brainwash the masses? Accidentally fostered mass literacy and critical thinking."
Professor Pandemonium (slamming the table): "THIS. CAN'T. KEEP. HAPPENING!"
The room was tense. Every plan, every devious scheme had backfired in the most infuriating way: by making the world better.
Dr. Malevolence: "Let’s review. The ‘Subjugation by Healthcare’ initiative?"
Count Malice: "Universal free healthcare in 173 countries. People are living longer, happier lives. Ugh."
The Sinister Widow: "Our plan to enslave the workforce with AI?"
Professor Pandemonium: "Reduced work hours. Universal basic income. People now have leisure time!" (visibly disgusted)
Baron Doomclank: "And don’t forget my attempt at creating a mass surveillance state. The facial recognition program ended up reuniting lost children with their families." (slams fist) "Children, Malevolence! DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY TEARFUL REUNIONS I HAVE CAUSED!?"
Dr. Malevolence (gritted teeth): "Enough. This madness must end."
A pause.
Dr. Malevolence: "We need to do the unthinkable. We need to… go full villain."
Gasps.
The Sinister Widow: "No more accidental philanthropy?"
Dr. Malevolence: "No. We take it all back. Every school, every hospital, every environmental reform. We dismantle it. We bring back corruption, chaos, and suffering!"
The room nodded.
Yes. This time, they would finally win.
One Year Later…
They had failed. Spectacularly.
Dr. Malevolence stormed into the meeting, rage in his eyes.
Dr. Malevolence: "WHO AUTHORISED THE DESTRUCTION OF OUR OWN INFRASTRUCTURE!?"
The group looked away, sheepish.
Baron Doomclank: "We thought if we tore down our clean energy plants, humanity would spiral into disaster. But… uhh…"
Professor Pandemonium: "Turns out, people banded together, developed even more efficient energy sources, and now… we’ve achieved carbon-negative status globally."
Dr. Malevolence: "FINE. But what about our economic collapse plan?"
The Sinister Widow: "Yeah, that’s a problem. We flooded the market with useless, devalued currency… but it accidentally led to widespread wealth redistribution and economic equality."
Count Malice: "The richest 1% is now… no longer 1%."
Dr. Malevolence: "No, no, no! Surely our ‘Corrupt the Politicians’ plan worked!?"
Professor Pandemonium: "Actually… it backfired. We funded the worst, most self-serving politicians we could find, but the people got so fed up that they reformed the entire system. Now all governments are completely transparent and accountable."
Dr. Malevolence (facepalming): "SO WE MADE DEMOCRACY FUNCTIONAL!?"
The group murmured in agreement.
Dr. Malevolence: "This is it. This is rock bottom."
The room fell silent.
Then…
Baron Doomclank: "Wait. Maybe… this was the plan all along."
Eyes turned.
Baron Doomclank: "Think about it. We always failed at evil. Maybe that means we were meant to be… heroes?"
A long pause.
Then Dr. Malevolence stood. Slowly. Deliberately.
Dr. Malevolence: "No."
The room exhaled.
Dr. Malevolence: "If we are fated to be heroes… then there is only one thing left to do."
The others leaned in.
Dr. Malevolence: "We must… become villains."
Count Malice: "Wait, what?"
Dr. Malevolence: "Think about it. If we commit ourselves to being good… the universe will flip it on us again! But if we strive for evil…" (dramatic pause) "Then fate will MAKE US HEROES."
The Sinister Widow: "Malevolence… that’s genius."
Dr. Malevolence: "We must never let the world know. We must carry this burden alone. We will play the villains, the tyrants, the monsters… so that, against all odds, goodness will always prevail."
The group stared.
Then, one by one… they began to nod.
Baron Doomclank: "We shall be the unseen force for righteousness, forever cast as the darkness."
Professor Pandemonium: "By failing to fail, we will succeed!"
Count Malice: "The world will hate us. But it will thrive."
Dr. Malevolence: "Then let the world tremble… at the rise of The Villains’ Cabal! Doomed forever… to accidental salvation."
Thunder rumbled. Somewhere, a choir of ominous chanting began.
And thus, the most devious plan of all was set in motion:
Eternal villainy… for the sake of eternal good.
